Boiled Wool Jacket

Are you looking for that impossible to find jacket, that’s versatile in every way.  A jacket that’s warm, wicks moisture, resists odor, looks dressy, etc?  Well look no further than a boiled wool jacket.  I recently pick one of these up and am amazed and everything this “boiled wool” can do.  It’s so comfortable, perfect for cold fall nights, and doesn’t itch like other wools can.

Boiled wool is surprisingly exactly what it sounds like; simply put, it’s large woven sheets of wool fabric that are literally boiled.  Boiling these sheets causes them to shrink, thus making them warmer because less heat can escape.  Boiling these generally doesn’t use any chemicals making it less itchy than other traditional wools.  Taking this into consideration, boiled wool would make a much better jacket, not to mention a blanket.  My dad used to have a few regular wool blankets, they were warm, but they were so uncomfortable because they were so itchy.  Boiled wool solved that issue and they can use it for things like scarves, blankets, cardigans, coats, etc.

Boiled wool, in other words, is just felted cloth; it gets the felt feel from the shrinkage. The basic raw material is wool yarn.

Boiled wool also helps to regulate body temperature and is ideal for outdoor activities like going to sporting events or picnics with the family.  These jackets look nice and dressy.  I wear mine everywhere in the fall and early winter and spring.  I get a ton of compliments and love that I its dressy enough to wear with a tie.  Since this isn’t your traditional wool, its softer to the touch and somehow durable too.

The jackets are so versatile, as they’re water resistant and windproof.  Whenever anyone goes to grab the jacket they’re going to wear out they always have to take into consideration if it going to be windy, if it might rain and how cold it’s going to be.  That’s the best thing about these jackets is they cover all three where a lot of jackets only cover one.

In conclusion, I highly suggest both men and women have a boiled wool jacket.  You will not regret the decision to own one, especially after you’re warm and getting a bunch of compliments.  So make sure when you’re looking for a nice wool jacket that it’s boiled, the best place to search for these is on the internet. If you don’t already, you might start to enjoy the cooler weather, just so you can wear your boiled wool jacket.
